Why You Should Read My Writing

How writing has helped me win $$$ worth

I was an engineer who disliked his college days.

To escape, I read and wrote a lot.

This hobby opened up a world of opportunities:

  • Entrepreneurial Journalism Creators Program led by Jeremy Caplan at Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY (Won $4,000 scholarship to pursue this).

  • My first fully-funded international trip to Thailand after I wrote to Alan Soon and Rishad Patel, asking if I could join Splice Beta.

  • Their generosity extended when they sponsored nearly $3,000 on behalf of Splice Media to attend the Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University.

  • Ashoka University waived rest of YIF fees (almost ₹8 Lacs).

  • With my two elder brothers, I’m running Fathima Fowzia Foundation in the memory of our late mother, managing its comms strategy, including social media, website, communications with our donors. Since May 2026, we have raised nearly ₹2 Lacs for projects under Education, Healthcare, Livelihood, and Charity.

Today, I have a writing career where I work remotely from the comfort of home.

All of this came through writing with intent:

  1. Writing dozens of applications to tap a chance at higher education.

  2. Writing cold emails to people whose work I admired, asking them how they do what they do. The connections eventually became mentors/ friends.

But to reach this level -- of having the confidence -- to write persuasively came after spending years and years of learning the art of writing. Thus, I’m here to share how Writing, Thinking, Reading can open doors of chances for you.

Now let’s get started.
