Quick glance:
I’m doing a challenge starting today, the 1st of November, to write continuously for the next 30 days as a part of my revival of this newsletter, The Fiction Emailer.
I’m inviting fellow amateur writers to join me as I make a fool of myself.
A writer dies a slow death every time he watches a reel.
I’m someone who knows he is capable of conjuring magic with words, but the lack of discipline has fizzled out the spark I believe I own.
I know I need to learn the craft before I lose control of the word for good!
Honestly, I blame myself for being lazy and for earning a PhD in doomscroll addiction.
But who do I choose to blame instead?
The pain of my existence: the mighty tech void of evil in app form called Instagram.
Before every writing, I begin with the intent of doing research, but then I succumb to a whirlpool of reels where I watch other writers talk about writing.
Ironic, right?
You don’t really write when you learn writing.
You learn writing when you really write.
That’s why I’m ready to do something embarrassing.
In November each year, thousands of amateur writers make an attempt to complete a novel. It started in the ‘90s and was called the National Novel Writing Month, aka NaNoWriMo.
I’m looking to do the same, but this time I’m doing it both on my Substack.
The goal is to put out 30 days of horrible writing, but 30 days of showing up.
This entire act in itself is a middle finger for AI-slop writing, because, for the love of God, I want to use my own brain!
If you are looking to get yourself embarrassed just like myself, it would be a delight to do this together, word for word, post to post.
I would love to see your brain in action as you share your own writing together.
We do this together not because it feels good, but because it makes us to live fully.
If anybody’s up for it, join me:
Want to check out how bad we can write? Hit me up.
Want someone to be crazy enough to take this up publicly and make a fool of?
I’m your guy.
Rayaan Writer’s Day 1 Prompt:
So pick out your pen and a paper, or your laptop, and type out 100 words about
who you are,
what you do, and
what you are trying to figure out.
Ta da! You will be done with your first post!
And that’s all for today!
